Omar L. Sherif – Treasurer

Omar L. Sherif is a seasoned development economist and certified project design professional with over 15 years of experience driving innovative initiatives across West Africa. His expertise spans public financial management, digital finance, regulatory policy, and institutional development, making him a valuable asset to organisations committed to education, arts, and inclusive development.

Omar currently serves as Senior Manager for Policy Research & Analysis at EMTECH, where he leads regulatory innovation and stakeholder engagement with central banks. He previously held pivotal roles at the West African Monetary Institute, spearheading multimillion-dollar digital payment and integration projects. His tenure at the Ministry of Justice in Liberia also highlights his commitment to legal reform, transparency, and public sector accountability. With dual master’s degrees—an M.A. in Development Economics from the University of East Anglia and an MBA in Finance with a focus on public financial management from the University of Liberia—Omar has lectured in economics and actively supported legislative and community development initiatives. He is fluent in English and French and has a strong track record of cross-cultural collaboration, capacity building, and policy advocacy.

As a board member, Omar contributes his skills in project design, proposal writing, and strategic advisory to help shape impactful programs in education, the arts, and development.
